I think the world is divided into 3 groups:
1. those that are considered as "The one" by someone, but no, he/she is not the one for you.
2. those who considered someone as "The one" but he/she does not belong to you.
3. those who got lucky and ended up with "The one".
Most of the time, to consider someone as 'the one' requires a relationship. Palagay ko, you cannot consider someone as the one if he's just a fling. Or she's just your crush. One has to play a very special role in your life para ma-awardan ng ganitong title.
Often times, one does not know that he's with 'the one' while the relationship is ongoing. We miss the mark. Only few have their 6th sense open. These few bastards get to be so wise that they do not let go of the other person. They decide to stick with that person, mabaho man ang hininga sa umaga. Umutot man habang nagroromansa.
What happens to those who had no clue?
They end up with regrets. Forever left with "what ifs". They muster their courage and tell themselves "I moved on". But from time to time, they give a spilt-second of their thoughts to that someone who got away. And to that deciding time or event when they decided it's best to part. "I can live without you". And have regrets later...
"Tinawanan pa kita. Tinawag mo 'kong WALANGHIYA e medyo pangit ka pa non.... ngunit ngayon..."
It gets easier in time though. Whether in denial or plain admittance that the one got away, anybody is entitled to say "I'm better off". Mean it or hide it, it would still be better if you belong to group #3.
I wouldn't even begin to try to give an advice. Or make a "how to know if you're with the one before you accidentally kill him" article. I am not that wise. There is no perfect formula here. I just got so damn lucky. And how I wish everybody can have their own share of luck too.
Go follow your heart.
